The Far Frontier is a loosely defined region of the Orion Arm, widely regarded as the boundary between settled interstellar space and a more rugged, lawless periphery. While the term is often used to describe the entire outermost perimeter of human expansion, in formal use it refers specifically to those regions beyond the Sea of Clouds and Deutscher Wald. Only a few star systems within the Far Frontier are capable of sustaining consistent governance, infrastructure, or regulation. Of these, only a few dozens maintain anything more than tenuous links to the various powers and organizations of the interstellar "Core," such as the League of Nations. The entire region is known for its volatile mix of new and developing colonies, non-state actors, and growing transient populations.
