Firecracker Rods is a common nickname for semi-armor piercing thermobaric incendiary railgun munition in service within the German Kreigsmarine. The round consists of a depleted uranium penetrating rod surrounded by a thermobaric filler. Upon penetration, the filler is designed to initiate an intense exothermic reaction, generating a high-temperature incendiary effect aimed at causing catastrophic internal damage to enemy starships.
