The Tetus Colonial Republic is a nation currently locked in a territorial and ideological dispute with the Silvanus Colonial Republic in the Silvanus System. Tetus has long accused Silvanus of backing Comintern-affiliated militias, intensifying tensions within the region.

The Tetus Coup

Main Events

Significant numbers of military personnel were observed deploying to strategic areas around the capital and several government buildings within Tetus City. Despite severed communications from Tetus, unverified reports from several sources claim that Soviet starships executed an atmospheric maneuver over the Republic's capital. Tetus government officials additionally provided contradictory claims as to the condition of President Clayton Orr before official communications abruptly ceased. Smoke and explosions have been reported from the Presidential Palace in Tetus City.

Later into the coup, ex-Space Forces Captain and one-time presidential candidate, Rachel Vasquez, announced a new government in the capital of Tetus after a coup d'état ousted President Clayton Orr. She vehemently denied any Comintern involvement in her first, sweeping address. During President Orr's three-term tenure, Tetus aimed to become the entertainment hub of the Juno Reach. However, allegations of unchecked corporate excesses and widespread corruption in the dominant casino sector may have bolstered local guerrilla forces in the region.

After the announcement of a new government, the Tetus revolutionary government has unveiled a trove of evidence alleging severe abuses of power by former President Clayton Orr, suggesting his administration operated akin to a mafia state. Video purportedly shot in his Palace, shows drugs, guns and vast reserves of cash. Critics have long accused President Orr of hiding his extensive relationships with American criminal organizations. Documents released by the new government show an extensive money-laundering operations run through Tetus hotels and casinos.

Aftermath

After the revolutionary government partially restored certain communication channels and local media, it was revealed that former President of Tetus, Clayton Orr had relocated to the Sigma Draconis Orbital districts.

The mountains of evidence purporting to document Orr’s history of embezzlement, bribery, and trafficking have been challenged by members of the O.T.O. However, sources with knowledge of the situation suggests that the documents are widely regarded as credible.

International Response

OTO Response

An O.T.O. spokesperson has refused to rule out the possibility of a military intervention into the Silvanus System following the revolution within the Tetus Colonial Republic. They confirmed discussions were being held with regional partners to determine an appropriate response.

An "intervention" could take many forms. Though the situation is still evolving, OTO prefers to work through local partner-nations, with their direct military-involvement limited to intelligence and logistics operations. This however, is not always possible. The Orion Treaty Organization is also one of the few military organizations empowered to act through League of Nations mandates, alongside their Comintern, Axis, and Sphere equivalents. However, it remains uncertain how the Security Council would vote on such action.
