The Rubicon is a group of nine star systems located at rimward edge of the Elysian Fields. The subcluster includes six colonized systems and at least six countries, including the Federation of Aurelia, People's Republic of Kitiya, Mdina Colonial Republic, Colonial Republic of Boreale, andPetrarca Colonial Republic. These states are all classified as non-legacy nations, emerging entirely in the post-Earth era.

The Rubicon is principally comprised of nine primary star systems: Aurelia, Avanti, Boreale, Capriccio, Kitiya, Mdina, Petrarca, Sardus, and Vivaldi.

Etymology

From Latin Rubicō, Rubicōn (“the Rubicon”), possibly from rubeus (“red, reddish”), from rubeō (“to be red”). "Crossing the Rubicon" is an idiom meaning to pass a point of no return. It is an allusion to the Roman general and statesman Julius Caesar’s crossing of a river in northeastern Italy, indicating his intention to begin a civil war.

Astrography

The Rubicon is situated rimward of the Elysian Fields, spinward of the Acadian Expanse, coreward of the Sunset Gates, and trailward of the Argentine Arm.
