Nigeria, officially the Federation of Nigeria, is an interstellar nation located in [This section is being restored]. It is a federal republic comprising its constituent states and federal capital. The Federation of Nigeria is widely regarded as a great power, is a member of both the African Union and Non-Aligned Movement.

History

Nigeria's former Earth territories had been home to several indigenous pre-colonial states and kingdoms since the second millennium BC, with the Nok civilization in the 15th century BC marking the first internal unification. The modern state originated with United Kingdom colonialization in the 19th century, initially taking shape with the merging of the Southern Nigeria Protectorate and the Northern Nigeria Protectorate in 1914. The British set up administrative and legal structures while practicing indirect rule through traditional chiefdoms.
