The Shade of Avalon is a cluster of 14 star systems located in the Sea of Clouds. The cluster includes 12 colonized systems belonging to the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. Both Legacy Nations originating from the British Isles, they share strong direct historical, cultural, and linguistic ties to the nations that once existed on Earth.
Astrography
The Shade of Avalon are situated trailward of the Sunset Gates and is in the Trailward edge of the Sea of Clouds. It consists of two constituent subclusters: The Star of Albion and O'Brien's Rapids.
Translight Strings
There are a total of 18 charted translight strings connecting the 14 star systems of the Shade of Avalon. It is the Trailward end of the Avalon-Atlantis super-string connecting the Shade of Avalon to the Sunset Gates. The Brittania system is the cluster's nexus, with four strings converging there.

Avalon is a legendary island featured in Arthurian Legend. The name Avalon coming from the Welsh Afallen meaning apple or fruit tree.
