The United States of America is an interstellar nation situated predominantly in the Sea of Clouds. It is a federal presidential republic firmly rooted in the principles of liberal democracy. Its economic system is a fusion of free-market capitalism with limited, strategic government regulation and oversight. The United States is one of the most highly developed nations in the Orion Arm, ranking highly across international metrics of wealth, economic dynamism, labor productivity, quality of life, higher education and civil liberties. The United States is a founding member of OTO, the Bank of Orion, and the modern League of Nations. It is widely recognized as the vanguard of the Western Democratic Movement, due to its immense political, cultural, economic, military, and scientific power.
