The Sea of Clouds is a major region of the Orion Arm famed for its natural beauty, abundance of habitable worlds, and ease of interstellar travel. It was the first region outside of the Local Cluster to be settled by humanity and is today closely associated with the nations of the OTO.
Etymology
From Latin nūbium ("sea of clouds"), genitive plural nūbēs. From Proto-Italic *nouðetis, from Proto-Indo-European *(s)newdʰ-e-ti-s, from *(s)newdʰ- (“to cover”). Cognate with Welsh nudd (“haze”), Avestan (snaoδa, “clouds”), Baluchi (nod, “raincloud”).
