Ticonderoga is the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense. It is located in the District of New Philadelphia, on Washington Bay within the Columbia Megalopolis.

It is the largest office building in the city, and makes up the terrestrial base of the Ticonderoga Military Spacelift. The facility is utilized exclusively by the federal government and the United States Armed Forces, growning synonymous with the nation's military power. Across both the United States and the Orion Arm, "Ticonderoga" is often used as a metonym for the Department of Defense and American leadership.

History

What would become known as the Ticonderoga Military Spacelift was the first space elevator constructed outside the Solar System by the United States of America. It was one of nearly a hundred federal installations targeted during the height of the American Insurrection, though the only attempt ended in failure.
