Acadian Wars
The Acadian Wars were a series of interrelated conflicts fought between 2274 to 2283, with minor branches of the fighting continuing into the present day. With roughly 12 separate belligerents, stated aims encompassed wars of independence and ideology together with more limited ethnic and religious fighting combined with several insurgencies. In 2278, an American-led military intervention succeeded in the partial restoration of the Federation government and the concession of several star systems as newly sovereign states. Within the greater Cold War, the conflict saw extensive involvement by the Soviet Union, German Reich, and the Orion Treaty Organization.
Fought primarily throughout the Acadian Expanse, the war was devastating in its effects, with estimates of Acadian soldiers and citizens killed between 8 and 11 million. 152,990 OTO and Coalition personnel died in the conflict.
