It extends outward with Enterprise at its approximate center, outward to the [[Calypso Deeps]] on its spinward edge. It contains four constituent subclusters and approximately 37 star systems.


The Sunset Gates is comprised of four subclusters: the [[Gateway Subcluster]], [[McCrae Test and Training Range]], [[New American Colonies]], and [[Symphony Subcluster]].
The subcluster includes one sovereign state: The [[United States of America|United States]].
 
It is situated directly trailward of the [[Calypso Deeps]].

The Sunset Gates is a cluster of star systems located on the spinward edge of the Sea of Clouds. It extends outward with Enterprise at its approximate center, outward to the Calypso Deeps on its spinward edge. It contains four constituent subclusters and approximately 37 star systems.

The subcluster includes one sovereign state: The United States.

Etymology

An allusion to the poem "The New Colossus" by Emma Lazarus.

Sunset: From Middle English son-sett, Sonne set, equivalent to sun +‎ set.

Gates: From Middle English gate, gat, ȝate, ȝeat, from Old English ġeat (“gate”), from Proto-West Germanic *gat, from Proto-Germanic *gatą (“hole, opening”).
