The Senekane Subcluster is a group of 10 star systems located entirely within the Calypso Deeps. The subcluster includes five colonized systems and two countries: the Republic of the Union of Andulela-Chelif and the Federation of Senekane. These states are classified as non-legacy nations, emerging entirely in the post-Earth era.
The Senekane Subcluster is principally comprised of seven primary star systems: Andulela, Chelif, Kalahari, Maloti, Senekane, Tugela, and Zanahary.
Etymology
Senekane's namesake was a community council located in the Berea District of Basutoland on Earth. Although the exact etymology of its namesake is unclear, it has been proposed that Senekane may derive from the Italian senecane - a feminine plural of senecano "relating to, or characteristic of, Seneca". Seneca the Younger was a philosopher of Ancient Rome known primarily for his works on Stoicism.
Astrography
The Senekane Subcluster is situated coreward of the New Canaan Corridor, spinward of the Pillars of Hercules, and rimward of both the Apollo Subcluster and the Juno Reach.
Translight Strings
There are a total of 11 charted translight strings connecting the 10 star systems of the Senekane Subcluster. Four of the translight strings of the Senekane Subcluster are weak and unstable, with the most notable example being the translight string between the Chelif and Tugela systems. The Anansi system is the only nexus system of the subcluster, with four strings converging there.
