The Well of Embers is a cluster comprising of a molecular cloud complex and the 15 star systems that encompass it, located entirely within the Local Supercluster. The cluster has no colonized systems nor sovereign states residing within it.
Astrography
The Well of Embers is situated immediately coreward of Ular Ketawa and spinward of the Juno Reach.
Interstellar Objects
Military Installations
Starport Alesia
The private military starport Alesia is located in the Rammanu system. The starport is owned and operated by the Tenth Legion, a private military company based in the Argentine Republic. The station's official purpose is to support the company's deployments spinward of the Local Supercluster while supporting anti-piracy and security operations, though critics claim that it is being used to disrupt fleets using the Well of Embers to circumvent the Apollo Subcluster and New Canaan Corridor. The station boasts a complement of over 35,000 personnel; two brigades, three air wings, tactical units, and a flotilla comprised of 17 escorts and 4 cruisers.
Translight Strings
There are a total of 15 charted translight strings connecting the 15 star systems of the Well of Embers. The translight strings of the Well of Embers are all weak and unstable due to the unique characteristics of the molecular cloud complex. While no core star system of the Well of Embers boasts more than three connecting strings, the Masu star system along the cluster's edge has four strings converging there.

Etymology
The Well of Embers was named such due to its orange and gold coloration, as well as its atypical number of dying stars and star remnants.
History
Pre-Colonization Era
Kurugallu Civilization
As recently as between 400 and 900 years ago, a now-extinct interstellar race occupied at least one planet in the Well of Embers: the planet Kurugallu in the Urgulu Planetary System. The species' point of origin and ultimate cause of extinction are still a matter of academic study and debate.
