The Commonwealth of Sailastra, commonly known as Sailastra, is a Non-Legacy Nation located in the Lyran Veil. It is a Small Power and a member of the League of Nations. The Commonwealth is traditionally aligned with the Axis Powers, but has a history of political instability and insurrection.

Foreign Influence and Civil Unrest

Unrest in the Commonwealth culminated in the Sailastra Civil War, which lasted from July 2281 - March 2282 and was fought between the Axis-aligned Commonwealth government and an uprising centred around a pro-democracy provisional government. This coalition was headed by the liberal 'Democratic League of Sailastra'. Despite political backing and material support from the United States of America and the Orion Treaty Organization, the Democratic League was defeated following Axis intervention in the conflict - a result of a Spanish merchant vessel being downed during civilian evacuation efforts.

Following victory in its civil war, the Commonwealth has continued to align with the Axis Powers. This has proved controversial, particularly as the nation's economy becomes increasingly integrated with the Axis. Notably, a recent audit of Sailastra's industries led by Italy resulted in a protest that escalated to violence between civilians and local police and security forces. The audit's condemnation of a majority of Sailastra's domestic firms has sparked anger and unrest, as critics expect wide-ranging shutdowns and hostile takeovers by German and Italian megacorporations.
