Ular Ketawa (English: The Laughing Snake) is a subcluster of star systems located on the Spinward edge of the Local Supercluster.

It is situated immediately between the Well of Embers Coreward and the New Canaan Corridor Rimward.

The subcluster includes no sovereign states.

Ular Ketawa is principally comprised of eight primary star systems: Bakunawa, Kalyak, Kapuas, Minokawa, Nang Mai, Nang Tani, Rangda, and Xe Kong.

Etymology

In Indonesian, Ular Ketawa means "The Laughing Snake". This name refers both to the subcluster's serpentine shape - and to the high level of piracy in the subcluster.

Ular: From Malay ular (Snake), from Proto-Malayic *ular, from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *hulaʀ, from Proto-Austronesian *Sulaʀ.

Ketawa: Affixed ke- +‎ tawa.

Ke: From Malay ke-, from Old Malay ke-, from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *ika- (“prefix for ordinal numerals”), from Proto-Austronesian *Sika- (“prefix for ordinal numbers”).

Tawa: From Malay tawa (To laugh), from Proto-Malayic *tawa(ʔ), from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *tawa, from Proto-Austronesian *Cawa.
