The National Liberation Front of Vietnam (Vietnamese: Mặt trận Dân tộc Giải phóng Việt Nam), colloquially known as the Viet Cong is an umbrella term to refer to a communist-driven armed movement and united front organization in the Empire of Vietnam. The organization has both guerrilla and regular army units, deploying heavy weaponry such as tanks, aircraft, and starships.
Names
The term Việt Cộng is a contraction of Việt Nam cộng sản, which means "Vietnamese Communist" in Vietnamese.
History
In 2285, the Viet Cong attacked and heavily damaged the Port Izumi refinery complex operated and protected by the Kusari Group, with the support of Byakko Logistics, in a combined arms attack using armor, air, and space assets.
Foreign support
The Viet Cong are known to receive extensive support from the Soviet Union and the Comintern and have been for decades. In recent years, it has been speculated that the Viet Cong have also acquired the backing of the Orion Treaty Organization.
