The Tetus People's Republic, commonly known as Tetus, is a Non-Legacy Nation within the Juno Reach, with its territory being within the Silvanus Planetary System . It is the fourth-most populous nation in the Juno Reach, home to 23 million people. It is a Middle Power and a member of the League of Nations.

History

Initial Colonization and Settlement

Tetus was initially settled in the 21st century as a part of the Evacuation of Earth. From Independence until 2285, Tetus was referred to as the Tetus Colonial Republic.

Second Solar War

During the Second Solar War, Tetus was a part of the Silvanus Colonial Republic, which was aligned with the United Solar Federation. Most of the world of Tetus gained independence under the Tetus Colonial Republic following the collapse of Silvanus during the Second Solar War.

Orr Administration

During the three-term tenure of President Clayton Orr, the Tetus Colonial Republic had aimed to become the entertainment hub of the Juno Reach. Accompanying this endeavor followed allegations of unchecked corporate excesses and widespread corruption in the dominant casino sector - possibly bolstering guerilla forces in the region. Many critics of the Orr Administration at the time accused President Orr of hiding his extensive relationships with American criminal organizations. Following the Orr Administration's ousting in 2285, a trove of credible evidence alleging severe abuses of power - akin to that of a mafia state - would be unveiled. Amongst the released documents was video evidence of firearms, illicit substances, and vast cash reserves, along with accompanying documents detailing an extensive money-laundering operation run through Tetus hotels and casinos.

During his administration, relations between the Silvanus Colonial Republic and Tetus were rife with tension - as Orr had repeatedly accused the nearby Colonial Republic of sponsoring Comintern-affiliated militias.

2285 Tetus Coup

In 2285, the presidency of Clayton Orr was overthrown. The coup saw the establishment of a formalized Socialist Republic under the leadership of former presidential candidate Rachel Vasquez - and the relocation of former president Clayton Orr to the Sigma Draconis Orbital Districts. In her first public address following the successful coup, Vasquez vehemently denied any Comintern involvement.

Revolutionary Government

The first nation to officially recognize the Tetus People’s Republic was the Republic of Vesta.

While the revolutionary government of Tetus initially avoided long-term aid treaties with the Soviets, many in the Local Cluster still saw it as a Comintern ally, declared or not. However, the Tetus coup appeared to have caught the Soviet Union off-guard, despite early claims of Comintern coordination. Eventually, the Soviets did begin economic assistance with Tetus, such as a fuels-and-fusion initiative.

The already tense dispute with the Silvanus Colonial Republic escalated further when Silvanus Defense Forces conducted a series of missile and air strikes on Tetus City. The Tetus revolutionary government retaliated by conducting similar strikes against military targets in the Vidasus Exclave held by the Silvanus government.

Contemporary Issues

The Tetus People's Republic is in ongoing ideological and territorial disputes with the Silvanus Colonial Republic.
